Cheap storage in Ho Chi Minh City

"Cheap" in storage means two different things: a low monthly number, and a low total for the months you actually need. This page is about the second. It gives the lowest honest price we can offer, the nine decisions that move it, and the cheap-looking options that cost more by the end.

What the cheapest plan actually buys

The 1,250,000 VND Small plan is not a stripped version of something else. It comes with the crew collecting from your door, every item photographed and coded, a shelf in a racked, pest-controlled facility, the portal with single-item delivery, and protection up to 30,000,000 VND. What it does not have is air conditioning, which is why it suits hard goods, and a lot of space, which is why it suits a studio's overflow rather than a whole flat. For most people looking for cheap storage that is exactly the brief: the winter clothes, the bicycle, the boxes from the last move, the things a landlord will not let you leave.

Nine ways to pay less

1. Store less. Every box you sell, donate or bin is 104,000 VND a month you do not pay, and the sell-and-donate pile is typically a fifth of a flat. Do it before the crew comes, not after.
2. Pick the right size, not the safe one. Small is 12 boxes, Medium 24, Large 48; the step from Small to Medium is 2,450,000 against 1,250,000 VND a month. Count properly with the volume guide; the crew confirms on the day and the plan follows the real count.
3. Air-condition only what needs it. Standard is 1,250,000 VND for a Small against 1,550,000 VND air-conditioned. Leather, books, mattresses and electronics want the cool section; tools, crockery, plastic and boxed hard goods do not. A plan can be split.
4. Commit to a term. Three months is 5% off, six months 10%, twelve months 15%. If you know the flat is let for a year, the year is the cheapest way to pay for it.
5. Choose the two-way plan if you are coming back. Collection only is 3,300,000 VND for a Small; collection and return is 5,100,000 VND. The return on its own later is priced as a delivery, 500,000 VND a trip plus furniture by the piece; the two-way plan is the cheaper way to book both.
6. Batch deliveries. Each trip is 500,000 VND and carries up to five boxes. Ask for the winter coat, the spare fan and the second suitcase in one request, not three.
7. Keep addresses in the free zone. A collection in Districts 1 to 5, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan and Go Vap carries no trip fee; a collection from anywhere else in the city adds 150,000 VND, once. If the crew can collect from an office or a friend's place in the centre, that saves the fee.
8. Book two days ahead. Sooner than 2 days adds the 400,000 VND rush fee. The day you decide is rarely the day you have to move.
9. Valet rather than self storage if you are not visiting. Self storage costs more per month for the same volume and takes a deposit; its advantage is access at any time, which you pay for whether you use it or not.

The arithmetic for a year

Divide the storage figure by twelve and it is the monthly cost after discount; add the collection figure once. The collection fee looks large next to the monthly fee because it pays for a crew, a truck, the boxes and the packing, and a photograph of every item. Companies that quote a low monthly fee and no collection fee are either not collecting or have moved the cost somewhere less visible.

A price can always go lower by taking something out. We do not take out the racking, the photographs, the pest control, the packing or the protection, because those are the things that make storage worth paying for at all.
