Storage between leases

Vietnamese leases run on the calendar, not on your plans. The landlord wants the flat empty on the last day of the month; the new landlord hands over keys on the fifth. Those five days, or the five weeks while you look, are what this page is about.

Deposits, and why an empty flat gets yours back

Landlords here hold one or two months. The inspection goes better in an empty flat: scuffs are visible and fixable, nothing is "left behind", and the handover is a single visit rather than a negotiation around your boxes. Collect the day before, not the morning of, so there is time for the cleaner.

Furnished to furnished

Most expat and many local leases are furnished, so the load between leases is smaller than people think: clothes, kitchen extras, books, the desk, bikes, decorations. A Small plan covers a studio's personal things; a Medium a one-bedroom's. Owned furniture, a mattress you prefer, the office chair: all fine, counted in box-equivalents.

What the gap costs

If the new lease falls through

It happens. It renews month to month while you look. Change the delivery address and date from the account whenever you have them. If you end up leaving the city, request a return to another address, release items to a buyer, or ask for disposal, which is confirmed with you first.

Frequently asked

Can you collect on the last day itself?

Yes, but the day before is better: it leaves the cleaner a clear flat and you a calmer handover. Same-day or next-day bookings are possible with a rush fee.

Do I pay for a whole month for five days?

Yes; the plan is monthly and there is no daily rate. Even so it is usually less than a week of hotel for the luggage you would otherwise carry.

What about the things I need during the gap?

Keep them out. Documents, a week of clothes, chargers and toiletries stay with you. Anything else can be delivered from the next day.

Is the crew insured for my furniture?

Every item is photographed at collection and protected up to 30,000,000 VND per contract under the terms. Declare high-value pieces when booking.
