Storage while you move

Two situations, both very common: the dates do not line up, or the new place is smaller than the old one.

The dates do not line up

The old landlord needs you out on the 30th; the new place is ready on the 15th. In between sits a van of furniture and nowhere to put it.

The usual answers are a friend's spare room or paying another half month on the old lease. The first imposes; the second is normally more expensive than storage, because you are paying residential rent for a job a warehouse does far cheaper.

The new place is smaller

A house to an apartment, or two bedrooms to one. The six-seat dining table will not fit. The cabinet from the family is not going anywhere.
