Storage in Ho Chi Minh City

Four different products go by the same word here, and picking the wrong one is what makes storage feel expensive.

The four things people mean

1. Luggage lockers. Hours or days, in the centre, for people between a checkout and a flight. Cheap for an afternoon, very expensive for a month.
2. Self-storage units. A lockable unit you rent monthly and access yourself. Good if you have a vehicle and visit often.
3. Valet storage. A crew collects, packs, photographs and stores, and delivers items back on request. Good if you do not want to do any of that.
4. Warehouse space. Hundreds of square metres on annual contracts, for businesses with goods. Not for households, though it dominates the search results.

What Tủ Mây is

The third one. We come to your door, pack, photograph every item and keep it in climate-controlled storage at 23 to 25°C. Anything you want comes back to your door.

Two ways to pay: by space, in packages of 1, 4, 9 or 16 m³, or by item, which is cheaper when you only have a few things.

How much space you need

• 1 m³ is roughly ten to fifteen medium boxes, or one wardrobe.
• 4 m³ is roughly one bedroom.
• 9 m³ is roughly a furnished one-bedroom apartment.
• 16 m³ is roughly a two to three bedroom home.

How it works

1. You pick a window. The crew arrives inside it with boxes, bubble wrap and tape.
2. We pack at your place. Everything is wrapped in front of you. You do not have to prepare anything.
3. Every item is photographed and logged. Each one gets its own reference and its own picture, and the full inventory is in your dashboard before the van pulls away.
4. Straight to storage. It goes from your door to the facility and nowhere else, into units held at 23 to 25°C, with CCTV and professional pest control.
