What paperwork you actually need
Short answer: an individual storing household belongings needs identification and a service agreement. It changes if you are storing goods for a business.
Storing household belongings
Renting storage for furniture, clothes, books or household things is an ordinary civil service transaction. You will normally need identification and to sign a service agreement with the operator, and nothing more.
Storing goods for a business
If you are storing stock, most operators will ask what the goods are, and some will want documentation of their origin. That is the operator protecting themselves rather than a government requirement attached to renting storage.
Using a storage address as a registered business address is a different matter entirely, and you should ask the operator directly whether they permit it.
Does the contract need notarising
A storage contract is a civil service contract and is not normally in the category requiring notarisation. For high-value or long-term arrangements, the parties can agree to notarise it for extra certainty.
This is general information, not legal advice. For anything high-value, ask your own lawyer.
