Timing around the builder

Get the start date in writing, then book collection for the day before. Give us 2 days notice.
Ask the builder for the finish date, add a week, and book the return for that. You can move it from the account before the day.
If the work overruns, book another term from the account. There is nothing to renegotiate.
Before the return, have the floors cleaned and the dust settled for two days. Furniture placed on wet grout or fresh varnish is the other classic mistake.

Living in during the works

Many families renovate one room at a time and stay. Store the contents of the rooms being worked on and keep the rest; when the builder moves to the next room, call the first room's things back and send the next room's out. Deliveries run from the next day at 100,000 VND an item, a box or a wardrobe alike, so this is workable, if not free.

Humidity during works

A renovation often means open windows, wet plaster and no air-conditioning for weeks. That is the worst environment in the city for wood and fabric. Air-conditioned storage at 23 to 25°C for the sofa, the wooden bed and the bookshelf costs 2,516,000 VND against 2,006,000 VND a month on a Medium plan and is the difference between furniture that comes back as it left and furniture that comes back smelling of the wet season.

Landlords and property managers

Will you disconnect the washing machine and air-conditioners?

The crew disconnects a washing machine at the taps and drains it. Air-conditioners and fixed installations must be removed by a technician before collection.

Can the builder use my storage for materials?

No. Storage is for household and business goods; paint, solvents and gas are refused for everyone's safety.

What if the renovation finishes early?

Bring the delivery forward from the account; any date from tomorrow. There is no minimum beyond the first month.

Do I need to be there for the return?

You or an authorised person, to confirm the placement and sign off the catalogue. The crew reassembles what they dismantled.
